Rough week

As I sit here in my dad's hospital room today, I can't help but think of all of our blessings. And I know that they have come to us as an answer to prayers from around the world. From all of you.

This past week as been a very difficult one, indeed. Dad has been so very sick. His lungs have been a great point of concern. But we have been blessed to see some improvement.

Another major problem for dad, and the one causing him the most distress and pain has been the infection in his esophagus. He has been in extreme pain from this infection, unable to swallow anything, and virtually unable to speak.

We have seen some gradual improvements in this area. Today he was able to be spoon-fed an 8oz can of glucerna. A whopping 220 calories! We are extraordinarily thankful for this improvement. It gives us such encouragement. His voice is a bit stronger, too.

The other blessing that we are seeing is his white cell count is continuing to rise. When he was admitted to the hospital they were 0.1 and today they are 3.3! In eleven days we have witnessed this miracle. A white cell count of 4 is considered low, but we see his body making these small (but major) improvements.

Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, good wishes, good deeds and kindnesses. We love you all so very much and could not get through this without your support.

I love reading my parents your comments, so if you have a moment, please leave one. They mean more to us than you could ever know.

Meagan! So glad to hear your daddy is improving every day. He is in our prayers continually. I know how great it must be for you to be there to encourage and be with him. Your little man has got to bring some smiles to his face. All the best! terra

Thank you for taking the time to post! I just got off the phone with Vinny and he said you were all at the hospital. I am glad your dad is making small improvements. I am sad to hear of the infection in his throat, and that it has caused him so much pain. We will be praying for his speedy recovery and for the pain to be managable in the meantime. How is your mother doing? Is Alex still in town? What can I do for you all? Please know we are praying for you all. Lots of love to you all.

Megan,
Thank you for continuing this blog. I know it's difficult for you and your mom to deal with the phone calls. We don't want to be a bother, you've got enough to deal with, so this blog is a great way to let us know how things are going. We continue to pray for your dad and all of your family daily. We'd really like to come visit and let each of you know how concerned we are and that we want to help. However, we can't seem to keep Rob in good health and we know Rick's condition is too tenuous to bring any possible infection, cold, or anything else into your household. Please feel our love and support and know that we are here for you to help with anything and everything we can. If you need us in CA, we can be there in 6 short hours. Our love to all of you!
